      Publishing is an essential part of the scientific process. However, for many scientists the process of submitting a manuscript until the actual publication is quite unknown territory. The talk will present what exactly the job of a scientific editor based at a professional scientific publiher is and how the decision process for some well known titles in materials science works. It will also be discussed what an author of a scientific publication can do (or should avoid) to maximize the chances of getting a manuscript accepted, being published fast and becoming read and cited by the relevant scientific community.

个人简历：

Joern Ritterbusch, graduated in Chemistry at the TU Braunschweig, where he also obtained his PhD in Ecological Chemistry in 1996. In the same year he joined Wiley-VCH as Acquisition Editor for the materials science book program. In 1999 he became the founding Editor of Adv. Engineering Materials, maintaining this position until 2012. In the meantime, he was the responsible Publisher for the Macromolecular Journals group at Wiley-VCH and the Physics Journals in Berlin. Since 2012 he is Editor-in-Chief of Adv. Functional Materials, held the interim EiC position at Adv. Energy Materials and currently lead the project group for the new journal Adv. Sustainable Systems.
