Intracellular fluorescence imaging has recently emerged as a promising approach for the imaging of biological targets. However, despite intensive research efforts during the last decade, practical microscopy of biological targets using various fluorescence probes in spatially and timely high resolution remains challenging. To address this problem, we have developed single-molecule and single-particle imaging microscopy with 10 nm spatial resolution and 50 ps time resolution for various applications including live cell imaging. Here, we would like to introduce our recent work on singlet oxygen (1O2) detection using fluorescence probes.
